An Operational Learning Team (OLT) is a structured, collaborative method that helps organisations learn from normal work not just incidents.
Rooted in Human & Organisational Performance (HOP) Learning principles, OLTs bring together frontline workers, supervisors, and leaders to understand work as it actually happens and identify meaningful opportunities for improvement.
An Operational Learning Team (OLT) traditionally consists of a small group of people (no more than 8 ideally) who are involved in the task, activity, or topic for discussion on a regular basis, i.e., front-line workers, coming together physically to share the knowledge, expertise, and experience, in order to identify examples of organizational drift and to recommend opportunities for improvement.
The OLT Software is facilitated by a trained and competent person and often sponsored or owned by a Senior Leader who has decision-making authority.
